KHWAJA MOINUDDIN CHISHTY (R.A)

Sultan-ul-hind, Moinuddin Chishti Persian : (Arabic: - Shishti) was born in 1141 CE. Also known as Gharīb Nawāz "Benefactor of the Poor" , he is the most famous Sufi saint of the Chishti Order of the Indian Subcontinent . Moinuddin Chishti introduced and established the order in the subcontinent. The initial spiritual chain or silsila of the Chishti order in India, comprising Moinuddin Chishti , Bakhtiyar Kaki, Baba Farid ,Nizamuddin Auliya, Ashraf Jahangir Semnani (each successive person being the disciple of the previous one), constitutes the great Sufi saints of Indian history.

Moinuddin Chishti is said to have been born in 536 A.H./1141 CE, in Chishti in Sistan region of East Persia. He grew up in Persia. His parents died when he was fifteen years old. He inherited a windmill and an orchard from his father.

BIRTH, EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION:

Khwaja moinuddin chishty (r a ) was born in seidstan (East Persia ) also known as Sejistan around 537 Hijri (1135-39 a.d ) in a respected family. His father khwaja Ghayasuddin (r a ) and mother syeda Bibi Ummalwara Alias bibi Mahe—Noor were the descendants of Hazrat ali (K.A.W)through his sons Imama Hassan and Imam hussain .Khwaja sahib lost his parents at the age of sixteen years. One day while he was working in his orchard (which was the sole means of his livelihood ) , a pious dervish Ebrahim Qandoosi came and sat under the shade of a tree, and khwaja sahib offered him some grapes from his orchard , the visitor ate those grapes and was delighted , he took something out of his bag chewed it and gave to khwaja sahib he ate with due respect and at once the light of wisdom and knowledge dawned upon him. .He disposed all belongings to poor and needy and move to Samarqand and Bukhara which were the great centres of learning and knowledge. 

SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE :

When Khwaja sahib had acquired the best knowledge and wisdom of the time, he travelled widely in search of a pir )Spiritual guide ) who could provide him the best spiritual guidance . He came to know os harat khwaja Usman Haruni (r a )who was the greatest scholar and unrivalled spiritual guide of that period . In the very first meeting Khwaja Saheb completely submitted himself to his murshid and remain in the company of this great divine spiritual leader for twenty years and served him devotedly ,passing through the various stages of the spiritual life.thus the great Murshid trained and elevated Khwaja sahib to the highest spiritual attainments .

HAJ AND PROPHET'S COMMAND :

As the great saint became accomplished and perfect in every respect the divine tutor honoured him with his robe and took him to Haj ,bothe went to Makkah and performed the haj and then proceeded to Medinah 

GHARIB NAWAZ HINDAL WALI ATA E RASOOL 

Khwaja sahib arrived at the barren and desolated land of rajputana which is now known as rajasthan ..Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin chishty arrived in ajmer at the age of 52 years around 587 A. H /1190 A.d .on his divne mission.His only armour for the success of his great mission was the great invisible power that pervades and sustains the whole universe .at that time ajmer was ruled by prithvi raj chauhan , the rajput king .Khwaja sahib ateyed at a hill close to anasagar lake .known as chilla khwaja sahib.,when people herd that a pious saint had come to ajmer people in large numbers visited him were blessed .the people were so  inspired by his divine teachings that they embraced islam and many became his disciple.

MARRIAGE AND CHILDREN  

The childhood of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (R.A) was full of miseries and hardships. He spent his youth in search of knowledge and truth. At the age of about 50 years, when he has almost settled in Ajmer and the preaching services were on the top, he dreamt Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W) who said," O Moinuddin! You have been very active in obeying Allah’s orders but why didn’t you follow my sunnah.". Thus , Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (R.A) made two marriages, one after another.

Children:

  1. Hazrat Khwaja Fakhrudin (R.A) He was the eldest son of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (R.A) he was a great saint and a scholar as well, he died in Sarwar town some 40 miles away from Ajmer, his URS is celebrated on the 6th of shaban every year with great Favour.
  2. Hazrat Khwaja Hissamuddin (R.A) He was the 2nd son and was also a great saint as well, he possed the quality of salvation, he made tough excessive for self-purification at the age of 45, he disappeared from the human eyes and joined religious fraternity.
  3. Hazart Khwaja Ziauddin Abu Sayeed (R.A) He was the youngest son of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz(R.A) his mazar-e-mubarak is in the premise of the shrine.
  4. Hazrat Bibi Hafiza Jamal (R.A) She was the only daughter of Huzoor Gharib Nawaz (R.A) she was of great religious personality. she guided thousand of women to the righteous path. her mazar-e-mubarak is located just near the mazar of Huzoor Gharib Nawaz (R.A). 

TEACHINGS OF KHWAJA SAHEB  

The life and teachings of Khwaja sahib have been of an exceptional character as compared with any other saint in india. The teachings of Khwaja sahib have been recorded in several books and mysticism.

Closest to allah is one who possess the following :

  1. Magnanimity of the river
  2. Kindness of the sun
  3. Humility of the earth

Noblest of character is possessed by one , who is :

  1. Bountiful in poverty
  2. Contented in hunger
  3. cheerful in grief

Surest way to keep off the internal punishment in the hell is :

  1. to feed the hungry
  2. to redress the aggrieved 
  3. To help the distressed

Sacred Sayings Of Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Chishty (R . A) 

  1. 1.Of all worship that pleases allah the best is the grant of relief to the humble and oppressed. 2.
  2. The path of love of allah (god ) is such a path that whosoever steps into it loses himself. 3.
  3. One who does not devotee himself to almighty ,engage in career of sinful earning.
  4. The more sincerely and whole heartedly Namaz is offered the more you will be close to Allah Pak
  5. The Enlightened is one who does not keep anything dear to his heart except the remembrance of God
  6. In the world there is nothing better than the society of the mystics and the respect shown to the saints.
  7. Be ever prepared for Death
  8. he Indeed is constant and firm in love who voluntarily and with delight accepts all the troubles and pain received from the friend
  9. Those indeed are the loves of God. who if they offer morning prayers are continuously in the thought of the friend till the next morning prayer
  10. Those who are true lovers of God gives away both of the worlds for the sake of their beloved and even then feel that they have done nothing worthy
  11. One who does not perform devotion to Allah is engaged in the career of attaining sinful earning
