Need of Offerings
In the present advanced age several questions are being raised in relation to those offerings which are made at the shrines of Muslim saints, particularly at the Dargah of Hazrat Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (R.A.)at ajmer.
It is all due to the lack of proper religious knowledge, lack of well established customs precedents and traditions and lack of settled Islamic and judicial pronouncements on this point Nazar-O-Niaz which is a combination of two words of Arabic language, in English it means vows and oblations.
According to Islamic law:
Offering i.e. Nazar-O-Niaz is a deed through which the nearness is attained,it is also a source of earning the pleasure and blessings of those who have attained the nearness of god ,not only this , presentation of Nazar-O-Niaz is considered as a source of achievement and success in life.
SHAH RAFIULLAH says:-
Whatever is presented in cash or in kind at any Dargah by the devotees is known as offerings. This further means and implies that offerings made at Dargah are not for any charitable purpose but for the benefit of those attached to Dargah. Another famous Jurist Imam Ghani Al-Nablisi Al-Qudsi in his book Hadiqa-e-Nadiah has clearly written: the main object of offerings made at Dargah is to benefit or facilitate the Moallims.
Nature of offerings:
At any Dargah particularly at Ajmer. The nature and purpose of offerings apart from what has been said earlier is, with some modification as under:
Firstly a person makes a vow and when his vow is fulfilled he makes the offerings.
The Second form of the offerings is that the devotee has not made any vow, but when he visits Dargah he out of devotion presents certain money at the holy grave of the saint with the intention that whatever he is presenting he s presenting as an offering to that with clear implication that the same will be used by those who are entitled to receive it. At Ajmer the devotees pay the offering to a Moallim who may take as their well wisher or spiritual preceptor.
The third form of offering is that it is paid directly to the Moallim knowing well that the same is for the benefit and personal use of that Moallim.
The fourth form is that devotees pay a particular amount of offering to the Moallim and limit its expanses they clearly specify the purpose i.e. either to distribute equally among all the Moallims ,to feed the poor, to spend in religious and spiritual functions , to present flowers or chadar (made of cotton or fine cloth) on the mazar The soul purpose of the offering in all the religious orders is nothing but to grace, benefit and facilitate the moallim or the person attached to Dargah.
DEGS (CAULDRONS)
There are two big vessels in the shrine which are known as degs these were presented by two great mugal emperors of INDIA known as AKBER and JHANGIR. In the big deg nearly one hundred and twenty mounds of sweet rice can be cooked at a time which is sufficient for more than 5000 people. The rice is cooked with Ghee, Sugar, Dry fruits etc. In the small deg nearly 60 mounds of rice can be cooked in the same way . The food cooked in these cauldrons is very delicious and is cooked by the individual devotes after that it is distributed among the devotes and poor people if you are interested in earning the swab-a-azim by feeding the poor people and devotees contact me.
- LANGER (FREE DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD) - Right from the time of HUZOOR GHARIB NAWAZ (R.A) the Langar is cooked twice a day in the Darbar of HUZOOR GHARIB NAWAZ (R.A) and is distributed among the poor without any discrimination
- FATHEAS--We perform monthly fathea of HAZRAT GHARIB NAWAZ (R.A) on every sixth of Islamic month known as Chatti Sharief beside that we also perform the fathea and urs of prophet MOHAMMED (S.A.W), and all the famous successors and predecessors of PROPHET MOHAMMED (S.A.W) and of GHARIB NAEAZ (R.A). Special function are held oneid meeladun nabi, urs of KHULFA-A-RASHIDIN and of GHAUSPAK. Shab-e-Miraje , Shaban-e-moazam etc. we welcome anybody to take part in all these pious and auspicious functions and fatheas and get benefited by heavenly reward.
- Gilaf (Velvet Cloth to cover Holy Mazar)
- Every day in front of the main shrine (mazar), after fazar namaz, magrib namaz and Isha namaz, there’s a mehfil-e-sama where devotional songs on Allah is sung by special Qawwals (devotional singer).
- Other-We make it possible for you to participate in all the activities of Dargah Sherief these activities include Milad , Khatam-e-Quran , special monthly prayers , offering of Ghilaf , Sandalwood , Flowers and we also make arrangement for the donation of room by devotees for people visiting the holy shrine . The Offerings (Nazar O Niaz) Of the Devotees received in the office of Chief Moallim Syed Azizur Rahman Burraqui are utilized for sacred works as:
- Celebration of the annual Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin chishty (R .a)
- Monthly fateha and Langer On every Sixth day of Islamic Month (Chhati sharif)
- Daily Offering of flowers , Perfume, sandal, etc, on Mazar e Mubarak
- Celebration Of eid Milad un Nabi and Jashn e Meraj un Nabi
- Daily Langer and Regular Recitation of Quran e Pak , Khatm e Khwajgan , Milad sharif etc
Aids And grants:
- Monthly allowance to widows
- Medical help to needy persons
- Expenditure on education and usmania khwaja secondary scholl, and Islamic education.
